Saturday, 3 October 2026: Let us pray the Rosary for Belgium and the world

 

Our Lady of the Golden Heart, pray for us.

 

The month of October, the Month of the Rosary, is also the month of the universal mission of the Church, whose institution by Pope Pius XI in 1926 we commemorate this year on its centenary.

Christians are called to participate in this mission by virtue of the Sacrament of Confirmation, each according to his or her state in life. The Christian united to Christ and to the Church, His Mystical Body, shares by grace in her intimate life. Through fidelity to observing the Commandments, the precepts of the Gospel and the practice of the works required by his or her state in life, the Christian is called to become the good fragrance of Christ and to spread it in a world that is often hostile to him: “For we are the aroma of Christ for God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (2 Cor. 2:15).

The Rosary was revealed in the twelfth century to Saint Dominic by the Most Blessed Virgin Mary as a providential instrument for preserving the faith undefiled and morals upright, by combating errors and encouraging the practice of the virtues taught by Christ in the Gospel. The daily prayer of the Rosary is a missionary prayer insofar as it opens us to the Love of the Heart of Christ, who never ceased desiring to spread the fire that He came to cast upon the earth: “I have come to cast fire upon the earth, and what do I desire, if it is already kindled?” (Lk. 12:49).

Withdrawn from the world, with no other acts than her heroic fidelity to following the Rule of Carmel, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux was proclaimed “Patroness of the Missions” by His Holiness Pope Pius XI in 1927. She is the supreme example of a holiness radiating throughout the Church and, through the Church, throughout all humanity, as witnessed by the construction in Lisieux of the basilica dedicated to her name.

The Rosary is a school of radiant holiness, a school of missionary love drawn from the Heart of Mary. For it was to Mary’s maternal love that the teaching, guidance, nourishment and protection of the true disciples of Jesus Christ were entrusted. This love, drawn from the Heart of the Immaculate Virgin, has led so many souls to leave the world in order to carry the light of the Gospel to the ends of the earth. These missionaries still baptize today in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit (Mt. 28:19). They bear witness to Christ, even to the shedding of their own blood in fidelity to Him. They teach and enlighten the nations with the Light of the Doctors of the Church. The latter proclaim the eternal and unchanging ways of divine Wisdom, through which the Kingdom of God is established in justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom. 14:17).

The Rosary is a true Marian school in which the Blessed Virgin teaches us the virtues of Christian life. She also teaches us to preserve the treasure of the faith, to continually increase our love of God and love of neighbour, even to the point of self-denial (cf. St Augustine, The City of God). Mary is the example of the perfect fulfilment of the precepts of the Gospel and, from Pentecost onward, of her radiance for the growth of the Church and the salvation of the world.

On Saturday, 3 October 2026, the first Saturday of the month of October, we are invited to make the Rosary a great common prayer carried throughout Belgium, going beyond our limitations and weaknesses, which may be our comfort, our habits and sometimes our fear of witnessing to our Christian commitments.

The choice of this first Saturday of the month for this gathering is not accidental. It allows us to begin or continue our response to the request made by Our Lady of Fatima to Sister Lucia concerning the devotion of the First Saturdays for five consecutive months.

Our Lady to Sister Lucia, 10 December 1925:

“See, my daughter, My Heart surrounded by thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, try to console Me and say that all those who, for five months, on the first Saturday, go to Confession, receive Holy Communion, recite the Rosary and keep Me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, in a spirit of reparation, I promise to assist them at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for the salvation of their souls.”

Sister Lucia of Fatima, in a letter addressed to Father Aparicio in March 1939, identifies the devotion of the Five First Saturdays of the month and the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the Pope as the decisive spiritual keys for establishing peace in the world and, fundamentally, for avoiding the loss of souls.

These intentions, carried with perseverance and charity, will support our prayer for Belgium and the world. They will help open our hearts to this missionary impulse to which Christ calls us, and after Him, so many of His apostles and disciples. As children of our mother, Holy Church, we are invited to make the graces received at Baptism and Confirmation bear fruit and thus contribute to the flourishing of the faith, to the protection of Life from conception until its natural end, and to obtaining the peace of Christ in souls throughout the whole world.

May these times of prayer, enhanced by a few hymns, take place in serenity and radiate that peace which only Christ can leave us in His charity, that is, in the unconditional love of God and of our neighbour. In humility and filled with confidence in God, we wish to appeal to Mary, Comforter of the Afflicted, so that she may lead us towards a peaceful solution to the crisis we are experiencing. With perseverance, we wish to ask for her all-powerful intercession before the Heart of God. She will help us emerge from the difficult situation into which the nations have plunged themselves because of their rejection of God and of Christ Jesus, sent to save them.

Rosary Prayer for the Protection of Life at Saints Michael and Gudula’s Cathedral in Brussels

 

On Friday, December 12, 2025, the Church celebrates Our Lady of Guadalupe, who appeared pregnant on the Tilma of Juan Diego in 1531 in Mexico. Venerated in many ways, Our Lady of Guadalupe is especially invoked for the protection of unborn life.

Let us gather in great numbers to offer Mary, Mother of all graces, a “crown of roses,” a rosary specially dedicated on this day to the defense and protection of life, from conception to natural death, at all levels of our society.

Saturday 4th October 2025, at 3 pm, let’s pray the rosary for Belgium and the world

 

God’s love for us is immense. God created man in order to share His eternal happiness with him. But, since the original sin, men are tempted by Satan who can only suggest temporal pleasures. Full of themselves, men tend to abandon God and think only about themselves.

In order to “deliver us from evil” (words of the Pater), God wanted the redemption of humanity. Our Lady said “fiat” and God sent us His only son to save us from hell. By saying “fiat”, Our Lady became mediator of all graces necessary to our salvation. So, let us ask the Virgin Mary all that we need. She is the right way to go to Jesus. Those who find Our Lady will find Our Lord. So, we must pray Our Lady more than ever and encourage our neighbor to do the same.

By praying the rosary, we show our attachment to Mary. By the meditation of the mysteries of the lives of Jesus and Mary, we seek her help. The rosary touches the heart of our celestial Mother. She has promised her children who pray the rosary a particular help, “a solution to all our problems great and small” (Sister Lucie of Fatima).

So let us be apostles, apostles of Jesus through Mary, apostles of the rosary !

Let this period of prayer, enhanced by some hymns, take place in serenity and peace, showing charity and respect to everyone in the surroundings and following the security instructions.

Humbly and full of confidence in God, we ask for the support of Mary, comforter of the suffering, in this troubled period. We confide our souls, families, societies, our country and the whole world to Her.

Saturday 7th October 2023, at 3 pm, let’s pray the rosary for Belgium and the world

 

On several occasions, Pope Francis has asked his faithful to pray the rosary, especially during the month of October: « Pray so that Our Lady may protect the Church, that She may preserve it from the attacks of Satan and so that the Church may bravely fight the evil in the world » (September 2018).

On Saturday 7th October 2023, at 3 pm, as Our Lady has asked many times in Fatima, we shall pray the rosary, in Belgium and throughout the world, for the Church, the development of the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity, for the protection of human life and for peace in the world. The Church, mystical spouse of Jesus Christ, has the duty to transmit the Catholic Faith and Christ’s teachings until the end of the world. By administering the sacraments, She must also share out many graces to the faithful.

According to the popes’teachings, the Church wishes « that all Christian faithful may benefit from the protection of Our Lady who loves us all » and wants us to benefit from the fruits of Redemption. (Pius XII, encyclical « Ad Coeli Reginam » introducing the feast of Mary Queen)

A short time before her death, Saint Jacintha told her cousin Lucie: « tell everybody that God gives us His graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary (…) and that She has the power to give it to us. I wish I could fill all hearts with the immense love for the hearts of Jesus and Mary that burns inside me.  Let us console these Hearts by praying the rosary in reparation for sins that offend their hearts and for the conversion of poor sinners.

Thus, by showing our attachment to Mary in praying the rosary, we are also asking for her assistance as we meditate the episodes of her life with her Son, Jesus, to whom she guides us. The prayer of the rosary reaches the heart of our heavenly Mother. She promised those of her children who pray the rosary, a very special assistance, ‘ a solution to all problems whatever their importance’ (Sr Lucia of Fatima).

Let this period of prayer, enhanced by some hymns, take place in serenity and peace, showing charity and respect to everyone in the surroundings and following the security instructions.

The first Rosary for men in the world.


On the occasion of the month of the Rosary, men of all ages are invited throughout the world to pray the Rosary in public to honor our Lady of the Holy Rosary celebrated the day before, on October 7th.

“The Men’s Rosary, an initiative that started in Poland and Ireland and has grown steadily, will be held globally for the first time next October during the month of the Rosary; men from five continents will pray for 24 hours on that Saturday.” cfr Tribune Chrétienne September 22, 2022

Belgium joins the international initiative of praying the Rosary by men kneeling in the public square to do penance and implore divine mercy by invoking the Mother of God.

“Pray, pray a lot.”
“Pray always.”
“I will convert sinners.”
“Do you love my Son? Do you love me? Then sacrifice yourself for me. Farewell.”
(Our Lady of Beauraing 1932 – 1933.)

These few requests of Our Lady in Beauraing in 1932 and 1933 are among the many exhortations of our Heavenly Mother always going in the same direction: an insistent request for prayers and sacrifices for the conversion of sinners.

Having accepted at the Incarnation to be the Mother of the Saviour, Mary, Coredemptrix, stands at the foot of the Cross on which the Son of God, her son, dies for the salvation of the world, embracing the unspeakable horror of the luciferian ‘Non serviam’ – I will not serve – rebellions that are the sins of humanity in the face of the infinite love of the Father.

Christ’s sacrifice is perpetuated throughout the world until the end of time in the Consecration at Holy Mass. He calls us to unite ourselves to this offering of the Son of God to his Father for the forgiveness of sins and the conversion of all. What a grace, what a gift and what a mission…

Let us pass on to those around us this unconditional love of our Creator for each of his creatures. Let us collaborate as much as possible in its radiance. Is not the first of our charities towards our neighbours to let them know what will make them truly happy and for ever?

Mary, who became our Mother at the foot of the Cross and who was very distressed to see the extent to which humanity was turning away from its final goal, eternal happiness in God, came to tell us again and again about the love that she shared with the Father and the Son and that together they wanted for all. In season and out of season, she insists that we become aware of the brevity of our passage on earth. She urges us to live more and more of the life of God through prayer and the sacraments. Finally, she asks us to do penance and reparation for those who offend God, infinitely good, the origin and end of all things.

On Saturday 1 October 2022 at 15.00, we will ask through the Rosary prayer that Mary intercede for us with her Son, Jesus, to strengthen our Faith, protect Life and obtain Peace at all levels of society in our beloved country and the whole world. We will pray in union with all those who pray, whether we know them or not, throughout Belgium and the world.

The messages of Our Lady of the Golden Heart in Beauraing (1932-1933) as well as those of Our Lady of the Poor in Banneux (1933), remind us of the ardent requests of our good Mother of Heaven to the children of Fatima and then to Sister Lucia in 1925.

At the beginning of this month, the first Saturday will be a day of special graces to begin or deepen the devotion insistently requested by Our Lady at Fatima for the conversion of sinners.

To help you pass on this information to those around you, do not hesitate to ask for posters or flyers when you register .

If you know of rest homes, hospitals or other places where people live who cannot come but who would nevertheless like to join in this moment of prayer, small ‘prayer books’ can help them. For the protection of life in all its states…

Upon the beginning of Lent, our attention is again caught by Belgian parliamentary developments  which require our fervent prayers.

Indeed, the Parliament has been asked to examine a Bill aiming at modifying the 2002 Law on Euthanasia.  This bill provides -inter alia- that “no written or non written clause can prevent a doctor to perform euthanasia within the prescribed law”.  In other words, this provision aims at forbidding the running of hospitals and medical care homes with no euthanasia facilities”.  This would in effect mean that there would be no official medical establishment in Belgium where patients or residents would be safe from euthanasia practice.

The Council of State has rendered an advice on the Bill, dated 7th February last.  This advice reminds of ” the positive obligation of the State to protect the right of life”. it also considers that the proposition constitutes a restriction of the freedom of conscience and of religious beliefs, philosophical freedom as well as freedom of association of those who set up such medical care homes” and pressed the law-makers to clarify the proposed disposition in the light of the afore listed considerations.

On 18th February last, the Health  Parliamentary Committee examined these recommendations but simply decided to ignore them and has approved the Bill which will be discussed on Plenary Session of the Chamber on 5th March next.

We invite you once more to turn to our Father through the intercession of Our Lady, in praying for our Country, while including also a special intention for the protection of life of the born-to-be, as the law on abortion is still on table at Parliament.

In practical terms, we would propose praying and fasting for the preservation of human life, from its beginning to its natural ending
on this weekend of 28 February/1st March 2020

 AND

to join in the recitation of the Rosary for those intentions,
on Wednesday 4th March 2020 at 1PM,
following Mass celebrated at 12.30
in the Cathedral Saint Michael and Gudulae at the “Maes Chapel” located at the back of the Main Altar of the Cathedral,

The abortion until the end of the pregnancy, in Belgium …?

After a few weeks of respite, in February, a bill will return to the agenda of the Belgian Parliament. It is aimed at allowing abortion  not only  up to 18 weeks, as its promoteurs want us to believe but until the end of the pregnancy.

The bill states that :

  • No one could be punished for practising an abortion beyond 18 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Doctors would not be obliged to remind their patients about the different possibilites for the future new-born baby (adoption, etc).
  • Doctors who do not want to practise an abortion  will  have to refer their patients to another doctor or to an abortion centre. 
  • Hospitals will  no longer be allowed to forbid the practice of  abortions on their premises.
  • Those who would try to prevent a woman from getting an abortion could be sentenced to jail and condemned to pay a fine.

Sunday 13th October 2019 at 3 pm

On Sunday 13th October 2019 at 3 pm, anniversary date of the last apparition of Our Lady in Fatima in 1917, we shall pray the rosary in many places throughout Belgium and the world. We shall ask Our Lady, Our Good Mother, for the revival of the Catholic Faith, for the respect of Life and for Peace in Belgium and throughout the world. We shall be united with other faithful who will also pray the rosary in other countries.


The repetition of the « Hail Mary » of the Rosary, crown of roses for Our Lady, Queen of Heaven and of Earth, is a time of meditation during which we shall try and imitate Our Lady, the perfect mirror of Divine life.
Through the recitation of the Rosary, we ask Our Lady to call on Jesus, Her Son, to help our family, friends and neighbours. In this way, we submit our requests To God.


It is also a good way to gather together : « For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them » (Matthew, 18, 20) and to create prayer groups which could continue for a certain period of time.


Let us all put our names down on the form that you will find on this website under the heading « The Rosary ». Let us lead a group or join a group.

“Dear little friends, this beautiful rosebud is for you; it is one of the beads of your Rosary, and it may seem to you to be such a tiny thing. But if you only knew how precious this bead is! This wonderful bud will open out into a gorgeous rose if you say your Hail Mary really well. Of course it would be too much to expect you to say the whole fifteen mysteries every day, but do say at least five mysteries, and say them properly with love and devotion. This Rosary will be your little wreath of roses, your crown for Jesus and Mary.“
